Friday 20 March 2026
As part of Glasgow Science Centre’s 25th anniversary celebrations, we’re excited to invite you to STEM Fest: The Future Starts Now.
This special event brings together partners from across Scotland’s leading STEM industries to mark 25 years of inspiring learning and looking to the future.
For Educators:
Give your pupils a unique chance to explore our dynamic STEM marketplace, meet experts working at the cutting edge of their fields, and dive into themes spanning engineering, renewable energy, marine conservation, and polar exploration.
Your visit also includes a curriculum-linked show to inspire and excite your pupils and an opportunity to explore the science behind 100s of interactive exhibits in our Science Mall.
Entry costs £7 per pupil or is free of charge to schools with local authority partnerships or school memberships.
What's On - Friday, 20 March
| Organisation | Activity |
| Fuse CDT | Join the team at Fuse to explore how ultrasound - sound waves beyond human hearing - is changing medicine in extraordinary ways! |
| National Physical Laboratory (NPL) | Come and explore the science of measurement and meet experts from the National Physical Laboratory! How will you measure up against the timing pendulum and the dolls of confusion? |
| The Polar Academy | Do you have what it takes to be a polar explorer? Come and meet a team of young Arctic explorers from The Polar Academy to find out! Learn about the science behind polar travel, research, and explore real expedition equipment. |
| Drax | Is it easy to generate electricity? Join the team from Drax to find out and take part in fun, interactive models showing hydropower works. |
| Merck | Join scientists from Merck and take part in experiments to extract DNA using real lab equipment! Learn what DNA looks like and how scientists make sure medicines are safe to use. |
| MathWorks | Join MathWorks to explore the exciting world of Wireless Communications. Meet our experts for live demos and hands-on activities! |
| Living Lab | Join us as we dive into the microscopic world of cells! Use pocket microscopes to explore cell structures and see how they come together to form tissues. Explore how and why scientists dye cells and have a go at creating your own coloured cell using splatter art! |
| University of Glasgow - MVLS | Meet experts from the College of Medicine, Veterinary, and Life Sciences to discover the tiny helpers living inside your gut! Explore how gut bacteria work and how everyday choices—like what we eat, drink and do—can help keep them healthy. Look down a microscope to see bacteria and human colon cells up close, and chat with researchers about how we study cells in the lab. |
| University of Glasgow - MVLS | Illuminate new medicines in this interactive activity that uses fluorescence to explore how scientists work to develop new medications. |
