Glasgow Science Centre partners with Pitchblack Playback to transform The Planetarium into a space for deep listening.
For one night only on 29 August, immerse yourself in the 5.1 mix of Metallica's mighty self-titled album at Pitchblack Playback's listening session in the dark, celebrating its 35th anniversary.
Hear this stunning album played loud in uncompressed full-resolution audio on our powerful planetarium sound system.
No phones; no talking; no signing; no distractions; just you and the music.

What is Pitchblack Playback?
Pitchblack Playback creates listening sessions in the dark, inviting audiences to slow down and experience albums from start to finish with no visual distractions.
At Glasgow Science Centre, these sessions take place inside The Planetarium - combining Pitchblack Playback’s deep listening ethos with one of the city’s most immersive audio environments.
By removing visual stimuli, Pitchblack Playback invites a rare kind of focus - sharpening how we hear, feel and connect with sound.
