Govan Help
The Glasgow Science Centre Community Learning and Development (CLD) team has a longstanding partnership with Govan Help, a local organisation supporting families in need. Starting in January 2024, Glasgow Science Centre collaborated with the University of Glasgow's GALLANT project to create engaging family sessions focused on sustainability. These sessions aimed to educate and empower families, particularly those facing socio-economic challenges, on important environmental topics.
Our CLD team developed a series of family sessions centred around the five pillars of the GALLANT project: Halting biodiversity loss, sustainable energy, vacant and derelict land, flood risk and active travel.
These sessions incorporated hands-on activities, discussions, and practical initiatives to engage participants in meaningful ways.
A day well spent with incredible benefits - a walk to the wee forest, learning about the surrounding world, and in addition research time in the centre of science - what could be better on a Saturday? We are very happy and satisfied. Thank you all!
