Communimap
The communiMap was a co-design between The University of Glasgow's GALLANT project & communities.
The new science app gives Glasgow residents an easy way to engage with local climate action at their fingertips. The app, a first of its kind, provides a platform that helps you notice, share and map what matters in your local area alongside what you would like to see change. The data gathered through the app will also support research within GALLANT, by providing rich,ground-level insights into how communities experience environmental change.
The communiMap app invites users to submit their photographs, audio and reflections to six community science co-labs;
- The Movement Co-Lab: Log and reflect on your journeys - on foot, wheels, or even a hoverboard - to better understand and enhance local travel.
- The Nature Co-Lab: Spot wildlife, seasonal shifts, hidden green spaces-or simply record what catches your eye.
- The Tree Co-Lab: Identify trees, measure them, and learn about their benefits. Discover what thrives where-and why it matters.
- The Water Co-Lab: Record puddles, floods, droughts, and flow. Help create a local climate record from street-level observations.
- The Compost Co-Lab: Track composting progress, share tips, and learn how food waste is transforming into local soil.
- The Energy Co-Lab: Notice existing energy projects - or imagine where renewable energy could fit into daily places.
