Glasgow Science Centre has funded places available on the following educational experiences for Glasgow City Council Secondary pupils. Details on the experiences and how to book are below:
Learning Lab - Third Level (S1&S2)
Learning Lab is an online STEM learning programme for the classroom and home. It aims to inspire and empower learners through relevant, varied learning experiences that take place over several weeks. The programme includes lesson guides & worksheets, videos content, Meet the expert session with STEM professionals, skills for STEM careers and a free visits to Glasgow Science Centre
Powering the Future - EXPLORING THE FUTURE OF ENERGY
Through investigation of renewables technologies and the pathway to net zero, pupils will discover opportunities in the energy sector and explore how their skills could change the world. The content is ideal for encouraging STEM subject choices and supporting third and fourth level outcomes in Science, Technologies and Social Studies including an opportunity to meet professionals from Scotland’s growing STEM industries.
Suggested duration: 4-6 weeks

SCOTLAND IN SPACE - CELEBRATING THE INNOVATIVE SPIRIT IN ALL OF US AND HOW THAT SPIRIT CAN CHANGE THE WORLD
Supporting young people to investigate the science behind rocket and satellite technology, applications of satellite data, and recognise the opportunities available in Scotland’s growing space industry.
Suggested duration: 4-6 weeks

Newton Flight Academy - Inspiring Pupils to reach new heights in STEM - S2 & S3
Visits to our Newton Flight Academy offer incredible learning experiences for S2 and S3 students.
In this full day experience, students will work together as scientists and engineers to carry out an air rescue mission. They will calculate their own flight plan and fly a full-motion simulator in this unforgettable, immersive learning experience.
The experience includes:
- Pre- and post-flight academy classroom activities
- Maths and physics theory and applications
- Discussion and collaborative learning
- Flying a full-motion flight simulator
- Reflection and celebration of learning
Aligned with Curriculum for Excellence third and fourth level experiences and outcomes.
The experience is for a maximum of 18 students and runs from 1000 - 1430 Monday - Friday in school term. You can enquire about a visit here

STEM FUTURES - Connecting young people to careers in STEM - Work readiness for S5 & S6
AEROSPACE ENGINEERING WORK READINESS WORKSHOP (S5-S6) - DATES AVAILABLE FROM JANUARY 2024
In this thrilling full day workshop, students get to pilot Scotland's only full-motion flight simulators while discovering the fascinating world of aerospace engineering. Ignite their passion and reveal the vast array of engineering jobs that await them in the aerospace industry, from satellites and rockets, to planes and drones.
