Free access for G51 residents
This weekend, Glasgow Science Centre is continuing its 25th year celebrations by welcoming visitors living in the G51 postcode for a free visit – sharing its landmark birthday festivities with its local community.
On Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March, residents will be able to enjoy full access to the iconic Science Mall, home to hundreds of interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and family friendly science experiences.
The Science Centre, funded by the Millennium Commission, first opened its doors in 2001 and has since welcomed over 6 million public visitors to the quayside to engage with science in innovative and accessible ways.
The initiative is designed to thank the communities in the Govan area who have supported the Science Centre since it first opened its doors.
It comes before Easter Weekend next month, which will see the quayside tourist attraction pull out all the stops for the school holidays - including an Easter bunny trail, fiery science show, and a brand-new IMAX mini blockbuster, Penguins – A Love Story 3D.
Commenting, Glasgow Science Centre CEO Dr Stephen Breslin said:
“Glasgow Science Centre wouldn’t be what it is today without the support of the people and community groups we work with who live in G51.
“We believe that science is for everyone, and that everyone should have the chance to participate in science and STEM learning in ways that matter to them – this weekend, we hope to give something back to our community, and create even more opportunities for memorable, accessible science engagement.
“As we celebrate 25 years, we’re delighted to open our doors to our neighbours to share in a weekend of discovery, inspiration and fun.”
