Underground Observatories: Teacher Focus Group
Are you a teacher? Help us to create inspirational educational resources. We are looking for teachers to take part in focus groups on the development of education resources on Tuesday 23rd February at 1600 - 1700 for Second Level / KS2 Teachers, and, Wednesday 24th February at 1600 - 1700 for Third and Fourth Level / KS3 Teachers.
Background
Climate change means that there has never been a more important time to understand the natural environment.
In the UK, a network of observatories is being established to deliver essential new data from underground. These are the UK Geoenergy Observatories.
The specially chosen sites in Glasgow and Cheshire will help scientists unearth insights into clean energy and how we can reduce our carbon emissions to achieve net zero by 2050.
Glasgow Science Centre is working with the British Geological Survey to develop a suite of resources to allow anyone to discover the world-class science of the UK Geoenergy Observatories.
There will be a range of educational resources for upper primary and secondary schools. The development of these resources will be built upon a foundation of co-production with teachers.
This online focus group workshop will explore what makes a successful educational resource and to understand which aspects of the UK Geoenergy Observatories are most relevant to school pupils or the curriculum.
