Salary: £40,593 - £45,073 per annum

The role 

Glasgow Science Centre are recruiting for an exciting newly created role within our Corporate Events Team.

The Catering Development Manger will lead a significant redevelopment of GSC’s food and beverage offer for both our dynamic events programme (conferences, large-scale drink receptions, awards dinners and science events) and our public catering offer (in our café, coffee shop & concessions) to create high quality experiences while maximising the financial return for GSC.

You'll have extensive experience within a food and beverage focused conference/ events management role and experience in managing large teams. In addition, you will have knowledge of financial procedures including cash handling, epos systems, budgets and reports and of hiring events equipment and agency staff.

Alcohol license knowledge / being a Personal License holder is an essential requirement of this role, as is working evening and weekends.

Q1. What experience do you have of developing a catering offer for events of various sizes, from large-scale drinks receptions to banquet dinners? Can you give an example of a specific catering development project that you have been instrumental in delivering, which saw improved financial returns.

Q2. Our events programme is very varied, from large-scale banquet-style dining, to unique science-themed events. How would you lead an events operations team to ensure that the needs of the client are fully met, and that the event runs as efficiently and profitably as possible.

Q3. We are a busy visitor attraction, with three key catering offers, in our cafe, coffee shop, and cinema concessions. What experience do you have in ensuring the effective operations and profitability of this kind of catering offer, and how would you redevelop and streamline our existing offer?

Q4. What elements of the role do you think will be most challenging, and how will you approach and overcome these challenges?
