School Visits - February 2024

Visits to Glasgow Science Centre include one activity, or for an extra £3 per pupil you can book two. All activities are subject to availability. The activities running in February are: 


Early Level - Nursery - Primary 1 

Planetarium -  Space and Back Again: Live astronomer-led planetarium show: Young pupils are invited to ‘stay up past your bedtime’ and explore a beautiful star-filled night. They’ll learn about the daily patterns of the sky before visiting the spectacular Sun and Moon up close. CfE: Space 


First Level - Primary 2 - Primary 4

IMAX - Under the Sea 3D: Here you explore the wonders of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on Earth. Your students will experience face-to-face encounters with some of the most mysterious creatures of the sea. (Primary 2 & 3 only) CfE: Planet Earth | Climate Change | Biodiversity and Interdependence 

Planetarium - Into Space: Live astronomer-led planetarium show: Your students will leave Earth and take a trip Into Space to answer some big questions: Why does the Moon change shape? Why do we have day and night? And what causes the seasons? CfE: Space 


Second Level - Primary 5 - Primary 7

IMAX - A Beautiful Planet 3D: A Beautiful Planet is a breathtaking portrait of Earth from space, providing a unique perspective and increased understanding of our planet as never seen before. It presents an awe-inspiring glimpse of Earth and a hopeful look into the future of humanity. CfE: Space | Planet Earth

Planetarium - Passport to the Planets: Live astronomer-led planetarium show: Leave the school bus and get aboard for our incredible tour of the solar system. Students get a spacecraft’s eye view of other planets and explore the possibility of life beyond Earth. CfE: Space | Topical Science 

Science Show - Our Changing Climate: Come with us on an amazing journey from the birth of planet Earth and through the evolution of life to discover how and why our climate has changed over time.  We explore biodiversity and some exciting solutions to protect the future of our world. CfE: Planet Earth | Biodiversity and Interdependence * From 21st February*

 


Third Level - Secondary 1 - Secondary 3

IMAX - A Beautiful Planet 3D: A Beautiful Planet is a breathtaking portrait of Earth from space, providing a unique perspective and increased understanding of our planet as never seen before. It presents an awe-inspiring glimpse of Earth and a hopeful look into the future of humanity. CfE: Space | Planet Earth 

IMAX - The Last Glaciers 2D: Embark on a global adventure and push the limits of extreme sports with two adventurers as they explore the causes and  effects of climate change.  Travel to Antarctica, the Himalaya, the Alps and the Andes and discover how the planet’s glaciers are rapidly disappearing.  The Last Glaciers captures the fragility of the natural world, the impact humans have on our planet and the friendship and challenges experienced by the explorers during their journey. Planetarium - The Solar System and Beyond: Live astronomer-led planetarium show: View the universe in a new light as you voyage beyond the solar system, into the galaxy we call home. Discover what makes a planet a planet and join the search for Earth-like exoplanets orbiting distant stars. CfE: Space | Topical Science | Forces | Electricity and Waves

Science Show - Bodyworks The Vitals S1 & S2: The human body is amazing. Join us to discover the workings of essential organs in our live science show. Explore the roles of digestion, circulation, respiration and the nervous system in helping you, be you! CfE:Body Systems & Cells *until 9th February only*
