Floor 1 at Glasgow Science Centre

Floor One of the Science Mall is home to some visitor favourites and introduces you to some basic science concepts in a fun and interactive way.

Work together to see if you can solve the brainteasers in the Maths Factor Zone. Go head to head to see who has the quickest reactions and steadiest hand with the wiggly wire. See a glimpse into your future with our Age Machine. Have a go on our Reverse Driving exhibit, where left is right!

Please note, The Big Explorer will be closed on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of March.

If you are lucky enough to be accompanied by an under seven, the Big Explorer area is a must see. It’s all hands on deck as there is plenty to do to keep our busy cargo ship in calm waters. Operate the crane and load the cargo, man the Captain’s bridge, have a splish splash in Water Ways, investigate the crates and see what’s inside.

Little ones can also put on a puppet show under the sea, play with the train table and have some musical fun with our musical shark and walk on piano. There is also a soft play area for children under 18 months so they can join in the fun.
Our workshops for under 7s also take place at The Big Explorer and are included in your Science Mall entry. Little ones can go inside a giant bubble, make shadow puppets, learn about camouflage and build their own wind-powered car. Check out on What’s On to see what workshop is on.

Floor 1 is also home to two of our top attractions: our Science Show Theatre, where you can catch a live interactive performance and our state-of-the-art Planetarium where you can go on a spectacular journey through the sky.

Please note, we are putting in some groundwork to reinvigorate Floor 1 and to allow us to install new flooring, you may find that a small area of the floor could be closed during your visit. Never fear, there is still full access to the planetarium and space zone, science show theatre. The Big Explorer will be closed from Wednesday 2nd March and will reopen on Saturday 5th. Please call us if you need any more information.
