Suitable for S3 - S6 pupils.

A new strain of a potentially deadly virus has been detected and the threat of a pandemic is looming!

Working as a crisis control panel, pupils will take difficult decisions based upon the evidence put before them in order to stem its spread.

• The situation will escalate as witnessed through live news reports, interviews with experts, practical tasks, newspapers, scientific models and data for analysis.

• Pupils’ knowledge and understanding will be enhanced in the following areas: virus structure; adaptation and mutation; transmission routes and in prevention and treatment.

• The experience promotes open-mindedness; recognition of alternative points of view and awareness that all individuals have the capacity to make decisions that may shape the future.

CfE:  Topical Science; (Advanced/Higher) Biology: Cell Biology.  Also Suitable for Media Studies, Guidance, English and Business Studies.
