Previous activities include:
Curious Chemistry Science Show (S1 - S4)
Explore chemical reactions in terms of energy release and factors affecting rates of reactions through a dramatic mixture of bangs, flashes and colour changes.
'Chemistry of Stars' Workshop (S1 - S2) - Edinburgh University
There are two types of stars: the stars in the sky and the stars on TV. In this hands-on workshop pupils will experiment with the most common elements in the universe and find out what a superstar's favourite chemical is! It's amazing to think that everything around you was once made of stars. Delivered by Chemical Connections of Edinburgh University.
React! Workshop (S3 - S4)
This is an investigative team-orientated workshop where pupils must utilise chemical reactions to control a specially designed car.
'Plants, Polymers and Pampers' Extended Workshop (S5-S6)
What is the connection between watering plants, hair gel, nappies, in vivo drug delivery and fire fighting? The answer is hydrogels. Work with research scientist Dr. Beth Paschke (Glasgow University) in this investigative workshop.
