Oscar® winning characters Wallace and Gromit are at the heart of the exhibition which appeals to all ages by showcasing how innovation contributes to everyday life. The exhibition also looks at how people can protect their ideas using intellectual property.
Visitors to “A World of Cracking Ideas” will be able to interact with all kinds of exhibits as they tour 62 West Wallaby Street, home of Wallace and Gromit. Included in the exhibits are some of the animated duo’s crazy inventions like the Tellyscope II, Shopper 13 and the Blend-o-Matic.
As well as some of the specially developed gadgets for the exhibition, visitors will also be able to see how inventions have been developed since their initial creation. For example, how the phone has changed from Bell’s original in 1875, to the candlestick design in the 1900’s to the mobile phones we use today.
From the kitchen to the garden shed, each room in the house will feature a different aspect of the thinking process behind ideas and show visitors how they can protect their intellectual property through patents, trade marks, designs and copyright.
Visitors will be able to interact with a number of exhibits by designing their own wallpaper, developing a logo for their own smoothie recipe and creating their own music along with trying their voice at the Karaoke Disco Shower.
A World of Cracking Ideas has something for the whole family. Every age-group from babies to grand-parents will find many things to enjoy. Under 5’s can visit the Vegetable Patch, an interactive soft play area and older visitors can take a nostalgic walk down memory lane by watching television adverts from the 1950s onwards.
Visitors will be able to take part in some fun activities within the exhibition’s Idea Stations, from creating their own wallpaper to composing music. We have also developed a brand new programme, including hands-on animation stations, workshops and live science shows, to complement “A World of Cracking Ideas.”
