Astro Poetry - Winners Gallery
Well done to
Caitlin
(age 9) from The Mary Erskine and Stewart's Melville Junior School our June 2010 winner.
Sparks flying left and right
My rocket soars through the starry night
Super charged and racing through the comets and stars
In search of aliens who can play on guitars.
I'm told to find them on Jupiter but to avoid the red spot,
I hear that it may be windy no place for my racing yacht.
Oh no I have missed my stop and land on Neptune
only to find a gathering of dots living in one commune.
Fabulous and blue but full of gas, the natives so tiny,
to see them you need a magnifying glass.
Although they are friendly and not at all green,
I am so tired to chasing them as they can hardly be seen.
So back home to earth I zoom through
the stars,
I'm planning my next adventure which will be
to Mars.
Caitlyn (age 8) from Baird Memorial Primary School our December 2009 winner:
I went on a rocket ship away up to the moon.
I looked around and heard a sound.
I want to go very soon.
When I got off I heard a "scoff" and then I saw a Marshan we all laughed and got along real smashing.
